The main building was constructed as an orphanage and later used as a training facility and hospital during WWII. It has provided care and support for over a century.

The Ontario government purchased 12 acres from the federal government (formerly the Ortona Army Barracks) to establish a facility for people with developmental disabilities.

Began delivering supportive living services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Halton, Dufferin, and Peel regions.

Oaklands assumed responsibility for coordinating services for over 1,000 people and families in Halton Region.

Oaklands Regional Centre became Central West Specialized Developmental Services, expanding its commitment to community-based care.

CWSDS launched the Dual Diagnosis Service and took on administration of the Central West Passport Program.

CWSDS began operating community homes to support individuals in more inclusive environments.

Became lead agency for the Community Networks of Specialized Care.

Opened the Short Term Assessment and Treatment Environment (STATE) treatment program.

Since 2012, CWSDS has maintained full accreditation through Focus Accreditation Services.
